Classroom Management
Some of our ongoing classroom incentive programs to promote positive behaviours, respectful interpersonal communication and emotional self-regulation, include:
Secret Walker
Before exiting the classroom, one name will be drawn from the “Secret Walker” baggie. If the learner whose name was drawn follows the expectations of appropriate hallway behaviour, he/she/they will be rewarded with a surprise from our treasure chest upon returning to class.
Class Pom-Pom Jar
At any point throughout the day, positive behaviour pom-poms may be earned by the class as a whole for demonstrating cooperative teamwork and respectful behaviours. The objective is to fill the pom-pom jar completely - thereby, earning a celebratory activity of success.
French Tickets
Learners who actively apply the French vocabulary and grammatical structures taught in class during whole group discussions or during conversations amongst peers, will be issued a ticket. Once a ticket has been issued to a learner, he/she/they will be responsible for writing his/her/their name on the back and depositing it in the appropriate container for our daily lottery draw. The objective of this incentive program is to encourage learners to take greater risks with their oral French language skills and to foster authentic French conversations in class. At the end of the day, a name will be drawn from the ticket lottery and the winner will receive a trip to the treasure chest. Naturally, the more tickets one receives in the run of a day, the better the odds are at winning the daily prize. This program has been known to entice even our most timid leaners to participate orally in class.
